ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Blown Cylinder or Bad Sparkplug Wires

So I used to have (Still do) a '93' Accord LX automatic. I was told that the cylinder #3 was blown and had no pressure. Well I just changed the distributor, rotor, and wires.

I picked up a '92' Accord LX Manual. This weekend I switched the wires, distributor, and rotor. Well the 92 exhibited the same behavior as the 93. So I switched the wires back and worked fine again.

I'm thinking my 93 is fine I just got some bad wires for it. So I'm gonna put the wires in the 92 on the 93 this weekend coming up and see how that works out. I'm thinking my cylinder isn't blown and it was just misfiring. See that the bad part a being a newb. You don't have enough experience to tell a misfire from anything else.

    What do you all think.

Sounds like you have a plan to trouble shoot, do that then tell us what happens.

Buy a compression tester w/ leakdown. If the pressure isn't even or close across all four cylinders you know you have a problem at which point you can perform a leakdown to help isolate the problem.

If you think the problem could be a spark plug wire, why don't you just pull each plug one by one and see if they are all getting spark?

You know you guys all have great ideas. I gonna start with the cheapest route and just switch wires. I'll let you all know how that works out this weekend.

A compression test will tell you if you have a blown cylinder.

I have damaged sparkplug threads on my third cylinder, and sometimes the pressure will push the plug up. When that happens, you can feel it in the plug wire, and it makes a knocking noise, as if the engine were about to blow up. I carefully put the plug back in place, and it's fine.

Low compression doesn't nessisarily mean you have to tear down the motor all the time. Might just be a worn ring. As long as it starts it'll be "fine."

                Ghetto engineering 101.
When the piston and ring warms up after being run a few cycles it will create a seal when the metal expands.

Good luck with your car man, all I know is that even at high milage, these motors can take a beating with the correct amount of oil in them and being adaquatly cooled.

                    My Idea Didn't Work

                    Yep,

So it didn't work. STS was right its bad pressure. So time for plan two. I think what I'll do is get the H22 for my 5spd put the old f22 in the automatic and use that one while work on the 5spd(92).

Thanks again fella's. BTW does anyone know any cheap places in PA that will do the swap. My neighbors actually complained to the police and zoning board about me working on the cars. Damn nosey neighbors. Who knows I could have saved them some money. It's not like stains were left in the lot.
