ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

why not 10:1 for turbo?

    why not 10:1 for turbo?

So a lot of folks like to turbo the f22 as it has lower compression and I HEAR that is a good a thing.

While I grasp the concept of why...why not turbo a 10:1? It has more power as is, it would take less boost to make the same power as a lower compression vehicle and you would have more power out of boost correct?

I eventually would think I would like to build my f22 for turbo, but for now I will keep it na.

I apologize for being so broad with my question, but if I built my engine for n/a but with forged internals and to 9:1 or 10:1 some odd compression...what are the added risks of FI this engine vs keeping the compression ratio as a stock f22 has?

And why would FI'ing this forged internals 9 or 10:1 f22 be a bad idea in comparison to the OEM compression ratio?

it's very possible to do. the only thing is, with a cr that high, you would have to have a phenominal tune, and make sure everything was on point so as not to blow the engine

ah...makes the tuning more finicky. Thanks for the info. I'm wanting (WAY in the future) to build my f22 with decent n/a power...maybe close to 200hp...I've seen several members here give some higher powered stock cars a good run for their money with only around 200hp n/a. I kinda want basically no boost under 3000rpms since I do my dd in that range, then boosting over that...so I would like decent power below 3000k...i still have to learn more before I really set my mind on things like that though.

I figure higher compression (along with porting/polishing etc) would be the best way to go...maybe 9:1 instead of 10:1...I kinda want to build an n/a motor first, learn from it, then boost that engine as my second build (phase II sorta)...I just like to do things once, so i kinda want to put all the parts in the first go around that I would use for boosting...if possible.

I have PLENTY of time to do before I even think of rebuilding an engine, to see what I'll need to mix and match for my preference on the build.
