ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Sputtering & Hesitating under load

So I picked up my new accord, its a 5spd Coupe. But im having hesitation problems... I drove it away fine and made a quick stop at my sisters house before heading home (which is 70 miles away).... as soon as i leave my sisters house the car turned off when i came to a complete start, but it started up fine with no prob... I drove to my house 70 miles away at an average of 70mph, car did fine... I get home let it sit... after about 30 min of sitting my wife wants to go for a ride in my new car, IT WONT START... I tried push starting but my wife doesnt know how to drive stick and much less pushstart a car... After she dumps the clutch she sputters away for like 20ft but the car doesnt turn on... she then turns the key AND IT STARTS!!!

We go around the block, she complains about how i bought a car thats exactly like my other car blah blah blah... Anyways, i hit a straightaway and decide to 'push' the car cuz so far i've driven it like a granny.... i went through 3 gears fine before reaching a stop sign, and when i reach it, it turns off AGAIN! I turn it back on with no problems...

This time the car runs ~ok, but has almost no power... it starts to bog out and sputter/hesitate when im accelerating even though its slowing down, then my CEL comes on. So its still driveable, i drove it 1st gear @ 1800rpms all the way home.

I havent bothered to check the CEL, it was too late in the night for that, but what POSSIBLE reason could cause this...

The car has a bad EGR, i know that, could that be causing this?

    BTW heres some pics.

The EGR could very much be the cause of it. I'd say fix that and then see where you are.

After that, I'd look at at the fuel filter, then spark plugs/cap/rotor/wires, just the basic tune up stuff.

EGR maybe. Cat stopping up Possible. You can put a nipple in the place of your O2 sensor, and some vac line to a gauge to check your exhaust back pressure. Not sure what the best pressure is, but high aint good. you should be able to get a vacuum gauge at a local parts place for cheap.

Supposedly the guy i bought it from says he got a new cat. for the car... but i dont know... im gonna try blocking off the EGR... the EGR has a vacuum, if i block it off, what do i do with the vacuum line that goes to it? stick a plug in it?

If the egr valve itself is not bad leave it plugged in and the vacuum line hooked to it. Free up some of the wiring harness and tuck it by the fire wall so you dont get a CEL. Then just put a new gasket, and a block off plate on the mani.

I'm not sure about that one. I saw that you said the cat may have been changed recently. What you are saying about the different resposes to the throttle may suggest a test of your TPS may be needed. There is information in one of the stickies about setting the TPS. You may want to hook up the meter and move the throttle wheel slowly through the range and see if you have any spikes or drop offs in the voltage. TPS should set off a CEL, but the ecu may not sense what is going on. If I am way off here somebody will kick in and let us know. There's that and the map sensor. Alos possible fuel delivery issue.

try checking the coil, on my H22, I had a similar issue, it would just stumble and felt like power was cutting in and out bad in the upper RPMs. It was my internal coil that was bad.

If you're taking the manifold off of the car to do this, you might even consider drilling + tapping the access ports to 1/2-20. This would let you set screws as plugs and allow for easier removal in the future. I just did this to my H23 IM that I plan on installing.

I am getting a little hesitation out of my Green Bean but I noticed the EGR ports were never cleaned out. Try doing that if it hasnt been done before.
