ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

only true of mobile 1. For some reason...they use conventional oil base stock...add some stuff...then decide that magically makes is synthetic.

SOME mobile one is...but it's like made in germany? There's a write up in a thread here somewhere.

RP is synthetic...and from the looks of that test benjerman112 posted up, Valvoline's is synthetic too.

Mobil 1 used to be an excellent oil. In recent years it seems they have let the quality of their base stock slide like said above, its not a true synthetic base oil. Royal Purple is alot of marketing hype and bs, and doesnt have an particularly great additive package compared to leading brands such as Mobil1.

How's that? Granted it isn't definitive and it is only ONE test...and that one test says nothing of longterm life/protection...I'm sure you could make an oil that would perform great in that one test but still ruin an engine...but based on that one test I can say I will not be using mobile 1, and that either amsoil, rp, or valvoline syth will protect better.

You want to see what oil is best for your engine. Get a sample of your engine oil after running it for a few miles then send it in for an analysis. A lot of diesel people do this.

Mobil 1 non-synthetic. It's what I've always used on this new engine, and the first time I ran it, it seems like it picked a lot of gunk up on the first change. I've had a few changes since then, and it comes out very clean. I usually drain it after about 5,000, and it still has some color to it. I plan on going back to mobil 1 synthetic like I had with the last engine, which is why I've kept mobil 1 non-synthetic in here so far. Has treated me well.

I just put it in last week wheen I changed my oil (Castrol EDGE). I've noticed that it is thinner on its consistency while pouring it in compared to Castrol Syntec. I have been using Castrol Syntec for at least 50-60k miles and never had a problem with it. Price wise the Castrol EDGE is about $8.00 for a quart, almost the same as Royal Purple. As far as performance gains, I haven't really drove the car as much yet to evaluate. I hope it is worth the $1.50 extra compared to it's Syntec predecessor.
