ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Need help with drive shaft removal

Ok, so I'm in the middle of replacing both drive shafts on my 93 manual coupe. I've gotten to the point of removing the passenger side (tranny side) shaft from the transmission. Problem is, it's stuck...I'm not sure how to remove it...my helms manual suggests that it just pries right out but that isn't working too well, I'm also a little worried about prying too hard against the transmission casing. Anyone out there got any tips for me? Thanks in advance.

You just have to use a pry bar, it'll come out. You might need to free up some room on the hub end of the shaft to get it to come out. But, they just pop right out

I've found that a flat pry bar works best. slip it between the tulip and the tranny and just push.

They really do just pop out.

Alright, it came out (good thing too because I had screwed up the inner joint trying to get it out so there was no going back). Thanks for the replies.

Well that certainly was no fun...but hallelujah, I can drive around a parking lot without the embarrassing clicking noise.

lol, try tromping a guy, having him follow you into the gas station to ask what's under the hood, and then having to pull off clicking.

Hate to bring up an old thread, but I was searching for something else and this came up in the search. The best thing that I've found is to use the ball joint separator (pickle-fork style). It fits perfectly around the axle, and a lot of the time you already have it out.

if used on the BJ, it would damage the boot. which is okay because on stock cb7's the boots are usually all busted.

but hes talking about using it to seperate the axle from the tranny/half shaft. i have to try that method especially since there probably will be less chance to damage the axle seals.

I use the tranny casing for a leverage point, and pry against the driveshaft so the force of the tip of the prybar is directed into the driveshaft and away from the tranny case. That way there's no danger of damaging the seals.

My pickle fork actually works well as a prybar for this, I don't hammer it I just use it as a lever.

The balljoint remover sounds like a good idea, maybe I'll use that next time.
