ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Egr Issue!!!!!

ok first and foremost i did try searching for information on how to fix my issue, and ive done everything that i can think of so far, but im still having egr, knock, ping, detonation, bad fuel economy problems. i bought this car about 3 months ago, and it started with a slight hesitation, and all you had to do was take your foot off the throttle for a second and get back on it, and the problem went away, well now it has progressed to detonation, bad fuel economy, and SEVERE hesitation. i have removed the egr valve, cleaned the carbon from it, checked the valve by sucking on the vacuum hose, everything worked fine, so i replaced the gasket and put it back on........still having issues.

so tonight i finally got some time to pull the ports off, clean the carbon out of them with brake cleaner, and i made sure that i could take a coat hanger and put it all the way down without any interference. i replaced the plugs with brand new honda plugs, started the car drove for a moment, and still having detonation issues. im out of ideas. the only other thing i can think of to do is change the sensor in the black box that leads to the egr valve. i have an extra one lying around that i pulled off my last accord.

if anyone can help me solve my problem it would be greatly appreciated. im heading to south carolina tomorrow to surprise the g/f for vday, and im going to get emissions done before i leave, and i would REALLY like to pass seeing as how im driving on an expired fl tag, and i live in ga. its messed up i know..............

no i mean this is severe hesitation. like i have the gas pedal half way down and the car is still slowing down, while knocking. its not until it see wot that it ignores the sensors and runs fine. if i let off the gas for a moment and get back on it, then it will run fine for a moment, and then start hesitating again. sometimes just for a moment, others it just keeps hesitating until the CEL light comes on and then there is not problem whatsoever while it stays on. its the strangest thing ive ever seen.

btw car is an auto sadly, and ill never buy another one again. car and engine are in amazing condition with only 170k being a 1993 thats pretty damn good. previous owner was a woman, and it even had a brand new air filter in it, and owners manual. it looked bone stock with no mods, and regular maintence when i got it.

      relax...don't blame the auto...check your o2 sensor...$50 at oreillys

      what is the code btw?

Mine did this (I have a manual) and it was the o2 sensor...it did it again recently with no code

if it is the egr then replace it

ok so here are the codes

          12
          43
          14

i dont think that there is anything wrong with fuel supply, i just think that is a by product of something else. do you think i should take the iac valve off and clean it? if so, is it the one to the left, or the one with the connector to the right?

so theres really no point in even trying to check my emissions tomorrow before i leave then huh? ill clean the 2 parts with brake cleaner sunday night when i come back, and ill take the neg off the battery, and take out the 10amp fuse from the radio to reset the ecu. how long should i wait, if there are not problems, to have the emissions done?

no...don't waste your money getting your emissions checked.

Resetting the ecu does nothing for a bad o2 sensor...

it is EASY to replace, $50 from oreilly, rent an o2 sensor socket from autozone (get your money back), and a 12mm to take off the heat shield...course you may not need to take it off. and a 10 mm to remove the radiator fans.

Be sure to also get some anti-seize just in case you need to replace it again.

When I had hesitation really bad, it was a fouled spark plug. Sounded like a Wrx when I'd take off and when I'd cruise. I'd check them too just for kicks, while checking everything else.
