ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Help Me Decide About My Clutch Choice

have a question about a clutch my trans went out recently and i was going to replace the clutck while it was ou and i found a stage two and three clutch for the same amount as a stock clutch would it be resonable to just go ahead and buy the stage three or a stage two for a longer life span and a little less slip or should i buy the stock clutch for the car. Mind you i have no work done to the car it has the stock f 22 and just a cool air intake on the car

For a stock car or even one with minor mods, an exedy oe replacement will do good. Make sure and buy a new throwout bearing also while you're at it. Oem preferably.

For "stock" and up to 200hp there is NO advantage to stage 2-3

people generally over compensate clutches, if you make 150whp-200whp get a good carbon/kevlar disc with a slightly heavier pressure plate. like mentioned a exedy oem replacement or even a stage1 if you like more bite. you don't need a 6 puck stage 3 and yes the best release bearing is an oem prelude one.

Chances are that those "stage 2" and "stage 3" clutches you found are garbage. Let me guess... XTD or F1 on ebay, right?

If you're not making more than 180whp, a stock clutch is just fine. Exedy is the brand to get. A "better" clutch with stock power will only result in harsher driving and accelerated wear.

yeah there is no point on a stock setup. I had a fidanza lightweight flywheel and an M5 clutch on my old 318i and blew the rear-end out of it grabbing gears. Having too good of a clutch breaks crap.

Realistically, what do you mean by 'built'.

Exedy Stage 1 will be plenty for now until you actually start making power. People run those with h22a's with minor bolt ons.

                        Built as in...

I mean built as in 9.1 compression ratio, Milled head, Port and Polish Job, 3 Angle Valve Job, and Possibly a DOHC Head Swap. Maybe.... still a lil unsure of that last one. I hope to try and at least make 180 hp if possible.

If you really want a "stage 1" go for it.
