ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

When i first changed my axles on my sedan, i had to take a 1/2" ratchet (craftsman), and a long fencepost over the handle. Lol, the post was like 4ft long, but gave me perfect torque and it just cracked lose..

If you got access to a oxy acetlyne torch use it. That axle nut does not stand a chance. I suggest using antiseize compound on the threads when you reinstall and a new axle nut if you can.

I was able to break off both my axle nuts with this tool right here. Kinda of pricey, but helped me out a great deal. I LOVE this snap on tool.

Depends on what you consider "quick". Those nuts are relatively soft, but a dremel really isn't made for this particular use. It should cut through it pretty easily, just take your time and make easy cuts. You don't need to cut all the way through, once you're most of the way, try splitting it with a chisel or big flat tip screwdriver or a prybar. (any injuries are entirely your own fault for listening to my advice!). I made a cut on each side, then cut into the originals on an angle to widen the slot enough to get my flat bar tip into it, then twisted until it broke away from the axle, then spun one off and the other one broke off.

I don't want to depress you, but when I did mine, I spent over 6 hours in the driveway cutting them off, but, again, I had those little thin wheels. A lot of that time was spent cussing and replacing them.

yeah, 6 hours doesn't exactly meet my definition of quick. i can think of a lot better ways to spend 6 hours... thanks for the info though

You'll be so glad they're done. It took me a while to not cringe when I drove after I did them. I kept expecting to hear that horrible ratcheting noise when I took off.

Haha what about you go to a wheel/tire shop and have them take it off. Be worth the 20 bucks in my opinion. Couldnt be more than that.

as for being original, the nuts are 36mm and i thought those only came with aftermarket axles. the replacement nuts i got from work are 32s.
The 32mm nuts are generally found on civics. The Stock nut is 36mm.

I honestly never had a problem with axle nuts. I have the 2135 TI max and the 2132G, never had any problems. Even the 231 Ingersol rand takes them out.
