ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Kick between gears

    Hey all,

I Have a 91 LX AT with a stock f22a1, but I did get a Injen short ram.

When I drive in Normal D4 I get a kick when it shifts gears, I feel the car jerk a little bit. But when I drive with the (Auto-clutch), you know shifting with the automatic clutch system, I don't get a kick at all and I get a ton more torque.

Is this normal? to get more torque with the auto clutch? and how should I go about fixing my kick in Drive4.

Thanks for all the help btw

Motor mounts hold the engine and transmission in place and prevents it from moving unneccesarily. Worn mounts will make the engine and transmission move around , thus having that "kick" during shifting,.

usually it's the front one aka "the dog bone mount" that's destroyed Look up ES front motor mount inserts. I know they only made it for the manual but I and a couple people managed to shove it in to the mount in our automatics. I think some people would recommend just filling it in with urethane yourself and save yourself the money but not everyone has the time to wait for the urethane to dry as it takes 24 hours to cure.

My mount was so deteriorated that the insert went right in with some pb blaster haa. It definitely improved the "kick" when my auto tranny changed gears. Only thing now is that the car has a small vibration at idle with the increased stiffness as oem mounts were made of softer material that absorbed a little of the shift shock.

What do you mean your auto clutch? How do you do that? o.O

"auto clutch" refers to manually shifting the auto. Like dropping it into 1, then shifting into 2, the D3, then D4.

Mine has a kick to it too. Havent really looked into it as its not that bad. Replacing my mounts will eventually get done.

If the rear is done also , there is no point that the front can fix it.

Well i call it auto clutch, but its when you shift through gears using the 1, 2 , D3, and D4... You know on the lower part of the console. they are below neutral and park.

Is it harmful to my engine if I shift like that? i just do it for fun and the extra torque. Not to mention it eliminate my kick.

                    Thanks again

I dont think its wise to do it everytime, all the time. You can mess up your trans doing it too much. Or so ive heard. Its an AUTO for a reason, so manual shifting cant be too good. Plus in ATs, the lower gears are usually used for hills or bad weather.

Ill occasioanlly downshift mine if i have to stop quickly, or if im on really bad snow/ice. Otherwise, im just used to it.

i never put it in anything below d4, feel like i'm putting too much stress on the motor having it rev higher than it needs to.
