ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Looking for info on head proting

I have everything I need to cut my valves and seats. I am getting ready to do the ports on my A6 head. I have done this sort of stuff before. I am just not sure how far I can go with this head. Does anyone have some info, or pics of a ported f22a x head? I will also making clearance for the cam lobes. I have seen a thread on here for that, but when you set the cam in you can see where you need to remove material for that. I just dont see the need to pay big $ for something you can do yourself.

well, since most of porting is a self taught skill, most of us niether have the time ,nor talent, or ambition to figure it out. knowing this, since you know how its done, wouldnt you also charge an arm and a leg? I know i would. I know how to true a spoked wheel, and charge accordingly. most people think you just throw the spokes inthere and your done oh, contrare, mon-frier. im sur most think porting is just grinding away metal, without thinking about coolant passages, oil galleys, or stud jackets. i dont have any info to give you for a port job, but here is my opinion on why its a costly job.
Ive never tried it, but someday when I get a set of extra heads for my fairlane, im gonna try.
    you'll love my nuts!

The oil passages and the water jackets are the biggest thing I dont want to cut into enough to blow, or cut through. I'm lucky to have one extra head off of an A4. I still need to disassemble the head and hot tank it so I can see everything better. I have some time. i havent decided what cam, springs, and rocker parts I'm going to put in yet. And props to you cause I will work on a head, but wouldnt even try a spoked wheel.

first thing i would begin with is getting a smooth radius down.practice trying to get each port as identical as possible. this isimportant because youdont want ports flowingmore than others.

port flow and design is all based on experience and testing via flow bench. it is different with every head, you also need to customize each head based on the setup and engine components.
        I <3 G60.

I've got crazy idea, what if some one made molds of 3D cut out after profesional porting is done. Then all you have to do is grind that head until you can fit that mold flush in there

The main problem I have is no flow bench. Im just going to go with a mild port job. Better to be safe than sorry. There is a shop in Savannah called Accurate Auto specailize in Honda /Acura. I am going to see what the shop Rick uses is charging for his head word. I am going up in cam but not that much. Probably going to be stock internals. New rod bolts, but after the cam and springs, there is no way I will be able to afford new pistons, and rods. It would be great to up the compression a little bit, but not enought to be on 93 octane only. Maybe midgrade gas.
