ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Pigeon sound in tranny

Those first replies were hillarious, I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard. Anyway, we know its comming from inside the tranny but don't know whats inside. If its an easily replacable bearing or what. I was just thinkin someone else might have had or heard of the same problem. I will try to get a sound clip on but I don't know if my camera will pick it up as it is a subtle sound but enough to piss u off.

sounds like a throwout bearing. i remember doing a clutch job on a member here because he didnt replace the clutch line and the pedal kept dropping which meant it also started to ride the clutch. his throwout bearing prematurely wore out and made that exact whining/whirring sound. the sound will alter when he press the clutch pedal.
im doing a clutch on a old school land cruise FJ40 and he has the same problem, except his sound like a jar full of marbles.

Does it only make the noise when he is moving? What happens if you put the car in neutral and just idle? What about if he presses the clutch to the floor when the car is idling? You should tell your friend to try all these tests and let us know what he finds. This is what I found online:
1. Start your car, set the parking break, and put the car in neutral.
2. With your car idling, listen for a growling noise without pushing the clutch in. If you hear something, it's most likely a problem with the transmission. If you don't hear a noise, proceed to step three.
3. With the car still in neutral, begin to push the clutch and listen for noise. If you hear a chirping noise as you press, it's most likely the clutch release, or throw-out bearing. If you don't hear a noise, proceed to step four.
4. Push the clutch all the way to the floor. If you hear a squealing noise, it's probably the pilot bearing or bushing.

The pilot bearing is in the crankshaft. It's what the input shaft on the tranny slides into. Thanks for the suggs. I will see whats up tonight. I should ask him when he did the clutch if the input shaft was loose, could be those bearings. We are absolutly positive that it's not the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, axles, wheel bearings. Even the certified mech doesn't know. But I'll keep lookin. I'll try ur advice.
