ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    impossible to get outta park

my friend just bought a cb7 its a 1992 4 door she has a few questions

    1) the shift lever is like IMPOSSIBLE to get outta park she has 2 yous 2 hands 2 get it out but it moves through all the other gears fine
    2) she asks what the glear lock key hole for beside it
    3) how to replace a antenna motor/ swap it to a statnaty one

    #2
    1) get a new shifter cable, but for now, just take off the center console, and take the little seal off the shifter cable and spray some wd-40 down there.

2)Stick the key in and you can take the car out of park without the ignition on/brake pressed.

    3) Just get a new power one from ebay, they are about 32 bucks.
    wat?

            its hard to explain

in order to shift your car out of park you have to press the brake pedal

theres a sensor or something that senses the brake being pressed and thefore letting you shift out of park

            idk which fuse it was

it was hanging out and i just pushed it in and i was able to shift out of park agian

i'll check tomorrow and find out which one it was

please correct me if im wrong

if its hard sometimes then its the cables. i havent heard anything about a fuse coming out but how would it come loose if it was fine for 15 years im not saying its not it because hey it could happen. but most likely its the cables

                          I had this same prob

ya I had this same problems like over the summer and didnt have any money to replace the cable, but the problem over time eventually went away. At first it was so bad I no longer put my car in park and put it in neutral...let me know how things go. Also mess with the fuses most of the time its a bad fuse, also check the fuse box under your glove compartment. Now I just remembered thats what i did

def. a shift cable...if it works sometimes and not others it's something mechanical vs fuse related. The cable is probably all gummed w/ grease or whatever from years of shifting through all the gears. It happens.

In my case, it was the shift cable at the end where it connects to the tranny. It was rusted inside causing the cable to rub the outer casing making shifting out of park very tough. Replaced it with a junkyard cable ($10) and everything was nice and smooth.
