ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

here's the real deal though, the average h22 is not the type-s motor and it only makes 190hp at the crank not the 220 they clame. and most of them lay down about 170whp and 143-148wtq with bolt-ons and thats about $1500-$2000 if you're lucky. i have 165whp and 154wtq out of an f22a1 for about $800. the real advantage of the h22 is gearing so invest in a h23 tranny for the f22 with the $800 mods and you can see some good 1/4 mile times. last i ran i did a 14.8 @ 92mph. phatdoughnut has an h22 with bolt-ons and his car ran a 14.457 at 94mph with 190whp and 155wtq. i would spent $800 in bolt-ons for the f22a and spray 75hp shot for about $700 to do it right and have about 220whp and 220wtq that's only $1500 to possibly run in the mid to high 13's vs $1500 just just buy the h22 then buy the bolt-ons. PM me i'll show you where to get the parts i got to make 165whp.

2. Type S and Euro R motors are rated at 220hp at the crank. Then there is the type R accord motor rated at 215 which is rare as hell.
3. The people making 170hp are either on stock ECU or they are just unhealthy.
4. H22A's have the capability of making close to 200whp with bolt ons if not over IF and i say IF they use quality parts that are tested over and over. A proper header can net up to 16whp untuned if not more. A good breathing IM you basically got a decent power maker.
5. The F22A is a nice option the only problem is how healthy is your motor. That is one main factor to consider. The problem is that you will need to spend some money to make this work. Look at Hondafan81's build. The F22B/H23A/H22A just give you a leg up with having more power to work with and DOHC.
6. Anyway back to the OP either motor is a great motor. The F22B is a nice motor to run on boost and same goes for the h23. As I recall the H23/H22 quarter mile times are separated by a couple of tenths. The h22a is a reliable motor thats why most people get it and I guess vtec but that wasnt my choice for the motor.
7. Consider what use you are going to use both motors for. I like the h22a because of its top end. Thats what I mainly use my car for and I need it for the response whenever I am hitting twisties or the local autocross. Also allowing me to push the motor to 8k allows me to hold a gear in a corner longer just how I see it.
8. Either way its personal preference, funds, and mechanical knowledge does play a slight role.
9. I dont know why I am numbering my responses.Last edited by NAiL05; 11-12-2008, 02:16 PM.
