ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Coolant

Noob question, where do I add coolant and/or check coolant levels?

Adding coolant should be antifreeze and water right? 50/50?

Recently started changing my own oil yaddyadda after years of just taking it in. Trying to learn everything myself.

over floe tank on the paseenger side. If emty wait till motor is cool, open the top of the radiator, pour 50/50 PREMIXED coolant in over fill the overflow resevoir and it should spit out coolant until its reach its desired level.runn it...let it cool down and check the radiator again..WHEN ITS COOL!!!! should be full to the cap

CB7Jay1 is correct however using premixed antifreeze is much more expensive than just antifreeze.

You would be better served by buying one of those big dropper looking things that tells you the mix and topping off with what is missing. You never know what's in there so it is always better to check the first time.

On a side note if you are feeling brave you could flush the whole system and start fresh. Antifreeze does loose it's anti corosive properties over the years and should be flushed. There should be a how to here somewhere.

So im supposed to poor a 50/50 mix into the radiator via the radiator cap or the overflow tank?

if you dont use the premix make sure you use DISTILLED water! Get a coolant tester to see what percentage of mixture you have going. For the winter I think you are better off using a 70/30 mixture up in IN. But any ratio from 70%-50% of anti-freeze should work.

So I should fill it up till it comes to the top of the radiator? Or until it comes to the top of the radiator then spills over into overfill tank and fill that also?

Not sure how full to make it

My boy and i put a new radiator in a civic last year and we filled the radiator up as much as possible and the resevoir tank, then we started the motor cold with the radiator cap off and the pump started sucking it down..we gave it some gas and it went down more so we added till all the air was out. Then the resovoir tank should level itslf out when you over fill it.Too muh fluid is better than too little, it will over-flow and level out.

oh yea, check the level of the resovoir tank after warm up ( wait for fan to kick on twice)then if you want, when the motor cools down to totally cold temp you can check the radiator.MAKE SURE ITS ALWAYS COLD WHEN OPENING THE RADIATOR!
