ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

F22 engine starts, runs for second then dies

    Gentlemen

I searched of course. I'm driving home in my 1993 Honda Accord notice the speedo and tach aren't working then they start working. Car still running smooth. A mile later it stops, and as subject says it'll turn over run for a second then cutoff. I started it one time with gas pedal pressed down, engine went to 3000 rpms then cut off. It must be getting spark or car wouldn't start and run at all. Same with fuel. I did replace cap and rotor recently, no problems until today. I do have a low idle problem but once car is underway engine would run fine. I soldered the main relay a while back for an intermittent no start problem. I'm wondering where to begin. I have a factory service manual. I've noticed my battery is starting to get weak. I wouldn't think that should matter if the car was running then cut off.

I will try tomorrow to start it. I'll put a jumper battery on it so it has plenty of juice.

Yes. Both ways. It's an auto. With it in park and neutral.
This igniter. I checked the manual I can't find where it is located. I assume it is part of the ignition. If it is electrical I suppose I'll have to replace it to see if it fixes the problem.

Igniter is inside of the distributor. It's a square shaped chip.

well since you have a 93, i think those have external igniters compared to the 9091s. just follow your spark plug wires, 4 should go to the VC, then the 5th will go to a rubber looking thing off to the side.

Sounds like you'll think its a ignition problem. Would Advance Auto have something like that or do I need to go to the Honda dealer, assuming I check it with a meter to see if its bad.

You're describing the ignition COIL. The igniter is inside of the dizzy and is oart #7 in this illustration:

I'd order it from Majestic Honda. They have the best prices for OEM parts.

^^That being said, I'm not completely sure it's your igniter causing the problem, definitely COULD be, but I'd wait for a few more responses from people who know a little more about the ignition system than I do.
