ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    VSS bolt stripped - DOH!

Ok so I just purchased this 92 Accord LX for cheap because it has a few issues. One of the main one being the speedo doesn't work and the s light is flashing. After some research on this site I determined it is a VSS issue and so I attempted to extract said sensor.

Then the epic battle began and in the end I had one bolt out and the bolt nearest the pass side stripped. I tried bolt out but the size that fit requires a 19mm socket which won't fit in that tight space. I tried everything I can think of but no luck.

How can I get that sucker out?

So, you were trying to remove the pair of 10mm bolts at the top, facing up, right? Well, if you still can't get the other bolt, you can remove the entire unit from the car for easier access to that bolt. You'll need to undo that tall 10mm bolt that's closest to the rear mount, then remove both p/s lines and plug them (tapered wood dowels work well). Or, the lines are long enough for you to pull the unit from the tranny w/ them still connected, maybe that'd give you a better angle for vise grips, heat helps too!

So I finally got the old vss off with the aid of a Sawsall but it was my first time using one of those and I apparently got a little overzealous.

It looks like I only cut 1/4 of an inch in but I can't look into the cut because of the location.

Do you thinks this will cause any long term problems:

Here's how I got the VSS out with that stripped bolt:

^well, you got it off w/o major surgery I have a spare JDM VSS that I looked at, w/ that cut, you should be fine, the lower section is actually inset about 1/8" already, so you're good. Did any fluid seep out of the cut? Maybe clean up the area and seal the cut w/ RTV, just incase!
