ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

91 LX going to do SWAP With Vtech From 97 Accord HELP HELP HELP

    Hi,
At this point my accord is to the point where it will require over 1 qt of oil per 1000 miles, the car runs really smooth, no problems, gets up to speed normal nothing out of the ordinary. Somehow this car will consume a lot of oil. I do know that the seals are bad (blue smoke at start), but at the same time I do not to put any more money in this engine.
Just today I found a used engine out of 97 Accord V-tech with 85,000 proven carfax miles. At this point I am willing to swap the engine and continue with my life.
    My question is:
Will that engine fit without modifications?
    ECU?
    Axels?
Can I use my old transmission?

Basically what is involved in the engine swap?
Is is worthily to spend money and time on this project?
Do I have to change anything else on the car?

I know there are a lot of questions, but of you can answer some of them I will appreciate your help.
    Thanks!

If the valve seals are bad then just replace them. No use swapping a motor over dried up seals if you dont plan on swapping to a H22a. To answer your question about the F22b1 VTEC (notice my spelling now), Yes it will fit BUT only years 94-95 will work because your car is OBD1 (correct me if its obd0) and is not compatible with OBD2. Its actually a harder swap from what I hear compared to the H22a. All H and F series transmissions are interchangeable 90-97 (manual) and 90-95 (automatic). You will use the same axles when doing any F or H engine swap. But in my opinion I would drive that bastid till the damn thing dies which wont be anytime soon if you take care of it.

At this point I do take care of my engine, as I have always done and will do
I always use Valvoline Maxlife and a Bosch Filter
I change the oil every 3000 miles
The only reason why I don't think about changing the valve seals is because it involves to much work taking the head out, having to change the little rubber seals and so on.
Can I use some type op oil additive to correct the problem just for now until I decide what to really do
At this point I am probably the most anti oil additive person on the planed, so I will absolutely hate to do that. But if i have no other option???

      Thanks!

There will be some wiring involved for VTEC (not Vtech), as well as an OBD1 conversion, as the F22B1 in a 97 Accord is OBD2.

Honestly, unless you're getting this motor for a VERY good deal, it's a downgrade. Don't be fooled by the VTEC... It's an absolute turd of a motor in terms of performance. Get it if you want a newer motor that will be reliable and efficient, but if you think it'll be a performance upgrade because it's VTEC, you're sorely mistaken.

You can try an additive, but they are only temporary fixes. I would recommend finding another F22A in good shape... or upgrading to a motor that will give worthwhile gains, such as the F22B DOHC, H23A, or H22A.
