How to install keyless entry (no alarm)?

Does anyone know how to install a keyless entry kit in an Accord 93, and the difficulty?

I'm looking at this which is a fairly basic keyless entry system, with no alarm or anything special. I just want to unlock/lock my doors with a remote.

From the images, it doesn't look like there are many cables, but what/where would I access the cables I need and would I need to tap into them? If so, any one have any how-to's or suggestions/tips? Thanks

looks like a decent deal for under $40 bux..

i wouldn't mind buying a kit and wiring it!

although i would need a GUIDED DIY with pics to be able to do it!

Pull the trim for your fuse box, under the carpet you'll see a fat wiring harness with blue tape around it. That tape is holding a pair of wires attached to a plug (I think it's a grey plug) One of them is the unlock wire (black/red), one of them is the lock wire (black/white). When I did my alarm, I cut the plug off and spliced them into the alarm lock/unlock wires. Pretty damn convenient!

For the money, you should just get an alarm with keyless entry. You might have to spend a few more dollars, but I think it's going to be about the same. I just spent $75 on a pager alarm with keyless entry. It's only a couple more wires than what you're going to hook up for the set-up you're looking at.

well where i live and go most of the time. you don't have to worry about your car being broken into..

so just behind the fuse box is a grey plug? that controls the lock and unlock functions right?

I admit, I have been wanting to do the keyless entry thing for a long time now. This would be a good thread to watch. Why don't you make the first DIY on this, cvc7chris? I'm sure people would use it.

I have an alarm that I haven't installed yet lmao, I can't figure out the owners manual. That keyless entry looks good to me though, well worth the money in my opinion

I would opt for the full alarm, just because if you go on a trip to a big city, there are people who might want to take your baby.

i have an Ungo security system in mine, but does work anymore, need to get a new one. Viper is always a great choice, you can find some really good deals too!

Well I know this is not a popular option, but it has worked great with me to just shave the door handles and add pop a doors which you have to put an alarm for and let the doors open on their own ( its great specially in the rain)

I think I'll probably buy it and write up a DIY. It doesn't seem too bad in terms of simply keyless entry.

I'm not really interested in an alarm, as I've never had problems before and I have no reason to secure the car beyond the locks.

It's just convenient to unlock the doors with a remote from a distance.

Also, I saw this on ebay and though some people may like it as well.

I was just going to say bulldog. I've installed a few remote starters from bulldog with keyless entry. They are really easy, cheap, and I have not had a problem. I'd go with them.

So thats what the plug is for.

So everything can be found in that harness?

No, depending on what wires you need, they are a little spread around under the dash. The manufacturer will probably have the schematic on their website. If not, bulldog or someone else will.

I found that plug while installing a cheap buldog keyless entry/remote start, but it has no voltage goin to it at any poiint.... any ideas why? it was all precut by the first owner who took his alarm out before i got it..
any help?

I just put a bulldog KLE in my car monday. $40 sumthin bucks at pep boys. Look at the wiring diagram and use the one for the TYPE B locks. I put in a relay for the parking lights, and starter kill. My problem is I did it too fast and didnt shorten the harness enough now I have to find a place to tuck a snake under the dash instead of a pigtail. Works great, and decent range, but it is new. Time will tell.
