ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Starter issue?

So to start off, my car runs perfect in the summer and hates the winter. The car has always made a grinding noise when starting, and I just went on with life because it always fires up. However when the winter comes the car barely starts when it gets cold out. IF the car is warm it will fire up though. It takes a little to get it going in the cold but it eventually goes after a minute of trying.
I went to Autozone to check out my battery and alternator. They both checked out in perfect condition. The guy heard me start the car and said that grinding noise is likely my starter and that the reason it starts hard in the cold could be that problem. Is this viable?

And pics of where the starter is and how to replace it would be needed. Is it an easy task?

Thank you and I hope it's not troublesome.. Thanks.

Even the grinding start? I thought Main Relay was for the heat not the cold?

Have you cleaned the battery terminals? And what do you mean by grinding, do you mean it cranks for longer than it should.

Ya, I'd say bendix. Or ring gear, never heard of one going on a honda, but its possible.

It's not like a grinding terrible noise. It's just a grind when it starts in the cold most of the time. The car doesn't like the winter? The grind is the starter I believe. I'll have a video soon.

Have the starter and batt checked. I would also recommend doing your yearly tune up right before the winter time

Here is a link to my video last year. That's how the car normally starts up most of the time. In the winter it is prolonged however. My other video is uploading on Youtube etc. so I'll have it tomorrow. For now check out my vid form last year.

Sounds like your starter is drawing a little too much, amp wise. I am a mgr ata a parts store and see his often. On a cold motor it is more difficut to turn the start dew to the higher amp draw.
