ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Vibrating/Shaking in 1st

In the morning when I back out of the driveway and switch to 1st and begin to go forward the car usually shakes a bit, not horribly but it's kind of like wheel hop.. I'm not posistive if it is wheel hop but it seems like it. This also happens sometimes at the beginning of 2nd but that's rare.. It's worse when it's really cold. My question is.. is it something to do with my suspension.. ball joint/tie rods/shocks? I'm replacing all of that anyway.. or is it the clutch.. can a clutch warp and then do that? I would think I would have the issue in every gear if that's the case.

    Thanks

My guess would be a worn torque motor mount.. check your dog bone and rear motor mount.

Should I be able to visibly see that it is worn?

Yes, normally they develop a crack right through the rubber.

It's possible for the clutch flywheel to warp causing a shudder on take off.
Does it only do it when you are letting the clutch out?

The only real way to check a mount is to take the weight of the engine off the mount and get a screwdriver and see how much you can move that mount around with the engines weight off of it... its a pain in the ass. You could go to the store and get yourself some mount inserts and install those on the mount and see if that helps. I got all my mounts new off ebay for $150... took a few hours to put them in but I did it myself. get a buddy and it will probably only take 30 min per mount and 45 for the rear.

Another way to test mounts is to get a buddy to watch your engine while you engage it in 1st gear and then reverse while keeping the brakes on. it will really make the engine go back and forth if your mounts are bad. Reverse is usually very telling of bad mounts as it really clunks the engine while you are trying to back up smoothly.
