ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    ahh, new problem. Alternator?

So, was drivin'....doin' my thing, drivin' through town, and outta nowhere, my lights started gettin' dim...needles started dropping to zero, and popped back up to where they're supposed to be. Battery light, and anti-lock light came on. Stayed on. So, made my way home (15 minutes). Engine was running fine. I didn't feel a loss in power at all. I came home, turned it off. 10 seconds later, tried to start it...BARELY started.

So, turned it off...came inside, told my step-dad, we went back out about 10 minutes later, it had trouble starting again (battery was near dead), and it ran fine..no battery light, lights were bright as could be, I got outta the car as he was checking stuff near the alternator, and 2 minutes later, went to get back in the car...lights are dim again, and battery light came on. But we let the car run for 10-12 minutes just idling. So, the alternator has enough power to run the engine, but it's makin' my lights and stuff flicker.

If I give it gas up to 4,000rpms....battery light goes away (lights still stay dim) When I say lights, I mean.....headlights and dash lights. I turned my radio off. Once I let off the gas, and it goes back down passed 2,000......battery light comes back on.

My step-dad said something about a part inside the alternator? Regulator? It starts with an R. Says our cars have it.

That's what I was sayin'. But it's staying charged just enough to run the engine. It's acting like it has a short or something? I took the battery terminals off, cleaned 'em off with sand paper, tightened back up, even relocated the ground wire that dangles off the negative terminal, to the other slot on the fender. Still doing the same thing.

Welp, just installed a new one today. Fixed the problem. I got it new, so when I do the H swap, I can use it.
