Is double clutching in a race ok

ok i was checking on something my friend was telling me. really just learning how to drive a standard. been in autos almost my whole life. he said when i get into 3rd gear to double clutch. he said 3rd is the gear that pulls the hardest. so i was seeing does that work.

anyways, if you are just learning to drive standard, I would focus on just having a smooth, slow clutch pedal action. Like letting a balloon inflate under your foot.

Also, learn exactly where on the clutch pedal travel the clutch pedal allows the clutch itself to engage/disengage. There are a number of ways to do that.

Be clear when people are telling you about the "clutch" whether they are talking about the clutch pedal or the clutch itself. Don't get unclear in your head about the difference between the two.
