ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Spring Compressor

Will I need a springs compressor to put new springs in? I was talking to a buddy of mine and he said he only uses a compressor to put bigger springs in, to make a lift. But since I'm dropping..I don't know. Haha
    Thanks

Your buddy is going to get you hurt. He's an idiot. Most big chain parts stores will rent you one and then refund your money when you return it.

Okay, haha. He has a manual compressor, so we'll use that. His dad has done all the lift kits around my town, does anyone know if the compressor is used in the same way? Also, could someone explain how a compressor works, obviously it compresses the spring but how and what happens?

It compresses the spring so the assembly doesn't shoot apart and kill you. That top retaining nut on the strut would be like a bullet with the spring's full force behind it... and you're usually on top of it to take it off.

Oh I see what your saying. Well I'm going to bring the car over to his house this week and see what his dad thinks, if he can do it or not, so if he doesn't I'll just go to a shop. Thanks for all the help guys!

I bought one of these spring compressor. Used it several times to change struts and not once have I had any "close calls" or incidents of it trying to take my life. Of course us common sense when using it.

yea just get spring compressor...as mentioned you dont even need to buy it...you can go to autozone and borrow the spring compressor and they refund your deposit after you bring it back....you may not need to compress your lowering springs when putting it all back together but that all depends whats springs you have.
