ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

A quick Report on my situation at hand

whats up everyone again. well i got some things to report on. well saturday me and my friends went out where all the local clubs and street racers are at here in shreveport. ok im building my accord in sercet so noone knows i have it. so my friend with the gutted crx and the d16y8 transplant beat my friends crx with th b18c swap. now i know the owner of the b18c is not a really good driver. and before im thinking about keeping the f22a since i have a dsm turbo and manifold. so being a bad driver can help me beat the b18c powered crx??? Also the gutted crx got beat by a 2001 grand am gt sedan with a full exhaust and intake. I know the grand am is a v6 so he should have beat the crx. and do things look good for me tuning my f22 to beat these guys. I still got a six month deadline and to me everything looks good. so what do u all think.

you are right i guess i cant solve anything sitting on the sideline i just dont want to get beat by thses guys. they have been beating me all year in my toyota,s dont get me wrong toyota's are great cars but are kinda pricey to build and not many people build the 5th gen celicas so i really dont know what route to go unless i do a 3sgte swap. meanwhile thats why i went ot and bought a accord. i just dont want to build anything that is going to lose. thats why we modify our cars.

          Agreed. Bench racing is worthless.

However, a mildly modified Grand Am GT is still a pretty slow car. They have potential, but they aren't much in stock form. And a D16 shouldn't have taken down a B18. That driver must REALLY be bad, or his motor is iller than a beastie.

A DSM turbo setup, tuned correctly, will give you a significant torque advantage (which counteracts a significant part of the considerable weight difference), and you can potentially put down 175-200whp (better than a stock H22).

Do it right, and you'll be a contender. Be sure to tune it! Tuning is key to making power AND keeping your engine in one piece.

It's a baby version of the motor that was in my Grand Prix. 3.1 instead of 3.8. The supercharged 3.8 in the Grand Prix ran a little slower than my H22. It was a heavy beast, but the Grand Am is no featherweight either. It's easily got 1000lbs on a gutted CRX, and it's auto.

yeah the point im making is i dont have to be gutted to beat the d16y8 crx. it seems like at this point he might be the most challenge to me. and the guy with the b18c i really think he cant drive at all he just had all this money and did the swap and really i dont think he has won yet. oh well. one more quick question how much hp a grand am gt has. i know the grand am weighs more than our cb's right. do a 6 cyclinder auto suppose to beat a gutted 4 banger standard with a ok driver

The V6 made anywhere from 155-180hp, depending on the year (that's over 2 generations)
They weighed between 2800 and 3050... about CB7 weight.

Stock quarter mile times seem to be in mid to high 15s. An F22A6 with bolt ons, weight reduction, and a good driver SHOULD be able to keep up.
