ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

You know what, this made me think of an old timer friend of mine that just passed away last month. His name was Greg Luepke, awesome guy, took ALOT of knowledge with him. At his funeral, he wore a Peterbilt hat, his favorite shirt, had a joint in his top pocket, and two wrenches in his hands. No BS, thats how he went down I RESPECT that.

Sorry if its off topic, but if youve got a beer pour a little for him.

That really is not at all off topic, to the contrary, thank you for sharing it. I am sorry for the passing of your friend. He sounds like he was great guy. I will definitely pour some beer for him.

Also, now I'm sorry that I deleted my post,
      (moment of silence).
which originally appeared three posts above (beween post #14 and post #15) in reponse to your post. I edited it a few times but wasn't sure I was getting my tone off as what I meant, so I deleted it so as not to offend you. Then when I reloaded the thread I saw what you had already responded to it. It was heartfelt in its appreciation of those who have come before us.

so what are my options about how much would it cost to take it in to a shop and buy a new exhaust pipe and muffler or is it really easy to take out the old pipe and put a new in ( I do not have alot of knowledge about cars but I can follow directions easy)

Well, You can go for a genaric catback from www.tasauto.com for about $200. But you might not like the muffler.

I would suggest having a shop cut that pipe off of the car and the muffler, and just put a new rear pipe in the car. I'm guessing it will be around 100 dollars to do that.

In the first place, the muffler is welded to the pipe, so it will need to be cut. Easiest way is with a torch. Hence, hire a pro. If you went the DIY route, Conceivably you could cut it with a rotary cutter. If you have one. I don't recommend trying it , just have someone do it for you.

the only scenario I would suggest doing it by yourself is if you go under and can get the rear section of pipe off the car. (The mounting bolts (I didn't see that in your photos) at the rear part of the B pipe (a couple feet ahead of the wheelwell) may be very difficult to get off. ) Then I would say, buy a new muffler and the correct rear pipe and put it on yourself.

I might do that myself. But I've got a ton of tools and jackstands, and a jack, etc. I think in your case just pay someone as I have the sense you don't have that stuff.

Since it sounds like you are short on cash, I am suggesting just getting the new rear pipe and keeping the muffler. If you have the cash, spring for a new rear pipe AND a new muffler together.

If for some reason you decide to do this yourself, write back and I will give you some tips for the job.

                good luck

it looks like from the resonator all the way until the muffler, is all 1 single pipe. is there no separation where 2 flanges meet? this may be the case, as the piping appears custom anyway. if so, its going to require cutting and welding to relocate that pipe, which you may want to bring to an exhaust/repair shop and present your problem and see what solution they present you with. it shouldnt be a problem for most.

otherwise you could track down a nice clean new catback exhaust, which would take care of everything. but thats going to be pricier.

I would ask around and find out what a good shop for your area is. It doesn't necessarily have to be a muffler specialist I don't think. Independent shops are usually less pricy than a Honda dealership, just do your best to find one with a good reputation.

Any reputable shop will put in an appropriate muffler and pipe. I wouldn't concern myself with the specific parts manufacturer, if they are a good shop they will put good parts on and it will look good too.

                      good luck.

Also ask for their opinion as to using the existing muffler, it may be a possibility still if there is decent life left in the muffler.
