ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    5speed conversion

Well since i like my accord SO much.. i decided i wanted to swap it to 5speed. I can get everything for under 500 bucks. However... I was talking to a mechanic.. he said its not the lightest of tasks because of the hydro lines, the clutch pedal, and removing the steering column to put in the re-invorcement plate in the back.. Has anyone come across a how-to swap to 5speed? I looked around in the swaps section but didnt find it.. i looked around for a good couple hours.

Post up your results, what was hard about it, what was easy.

    Thanks in advance guys

My reasons for doing this: My tranny has about 3 months left on it... TOPS...

so what you are doing is taking your motor out of your car and putting it into the 5 speed equipped car. if that is the case then there should be no problem except for needing a pilot bushing in the end of your crank assuming the new car has a bad engine that is being removed. everything else should be there

donor car is the way to go , you would have all the parts you need

i read your first post and second post and thats why i asked about your motor

Actually, and with all due respect, I would suggest rereading all your posts carefully. You have contradicted yourself on a couple of points, and it's still not clear (at least to me) what you are intending to do.

These two things are different. Do you want to swap a 5 speed into your existing car or your motor into a 5 speed car? You've said you wanted to do both in this thread.

Either way is going to take some work, but the motor swap is probably going to be easier on you than the tranny swap.

motor swap is faster and easier, because all that conversion work doesn't have to be done.

                    Not really.

My auto trans is going out the window, i need to replace it before winter. I have 2 options
                    1) Buy a donor car with a 5speed and swap it into my auto car
                    2) Buy another car with a toast engine, and a good 5speed tranny and swap in my engine.

I need to know of the complications that will arise when swapping the 5speed tranny into my automatic accord.
post # 3 was an alternative option

Thats not an option at this point. Im looking for a tranny that brings in better MPG, as well as something stable for turbo, which is what im doing come spring time (i hope)

Get the tranny (came with our f series engine...) HOWEVER...get one from a 93...earlier ones aparently had issues.

Got's longer gears, easy to find.

If you find a donor car you will have 0 troubles as the auto car and manual car are the same.

The only wires that are a big deal are those coming from the auto tranny to the tcu.

I don't speak from experience mind you, but this should not be hard to do. Go to a junk yard and pull parts if you don't want the whole donor.

Now i have done several R&R trannies and engines (same style tranny/engine, not a swap)...and engine r&r is more work than the tranny. I have only r&r'd my cb's tranny and never it's engine, but from my experience there is more work involved in removing an engine.

For the manual...you just take all the auto's stuff out, put the manual in, install the lines, install the clutch master cylinder, tie down the wires...maybe get a cluster from a manual...someone else will have to speak of the electrical issues, I would assume...which that isn't a good thing sometimes, that the speed sensor has the same plug, but I could see that being different...the ecu's from what I've been told are the same, I have an ecu from and auto ex for my a6 swap and was told it will work no problem with my manual lx f22a1.

read that. it should cover everything you should wonder about during the auto to 5spd conversion.
