ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

hissing noise coming from front right side?

Im getting a hissing noise coming from my front right side at about 25-30mph.

BUT IT ONLY STARTS after a good 20-25min of city driving where I have to use my brakes alot, on normal highway driving if there is no city driving before it, no sounds.

can't be a wheel bearing because that makes a humming sound.

you sure it's not like a faint metal on metal scraping? if i were you, i'd jack up that front right side with your ebrake off but rear wheels chocked.
just get it up and spin that sucker. see if you could recreate that sound.

yea don't think its a wheel bearing.

Only thing I can add is, it started happening about 50 miles after getting new brake pads. Could be a metal to metal sound, its not a hum, its a HISS HISS HISS or CHA CHA CHA CHA but only after heavy in city driving with braking.

yeah that kinda sounds like the brake pad is rubbing against the rotor.

did you make sure to clean everything and grease the sliding pin?

My Saturn did the same thing when I put new rotors on it. Never found out what it was (it got totalled before I got around to investigating). Exact same sort of noise though.

Check your brake backing plate, might be bent and hitting.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't do the brakes.

Although Im sure I could, I just called my brake guy and apparently he's on his death bed, heart attack.

                So i'm SOL

As for the backplate, that does sound like a good suggestion, how could I go about adjusting it? I know SHIT about brakes.

If the back plate is bent you can bend it back by hand.

Do I need to jack it up and take the wheel off or can I get to it by turning the wheel at an angle?
