ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    H22 head vs. H23 head

I was wondering what are the differences between the H22 head and the H23 head. More specifically, why do many N/A H22's use the H23 head? I've seen a lot of really good N/A builds and a lot of them use a ported H23 head. Is it just for air flow, valve lift/duration, or is there something else? I really want to keep my car naturally aspirated and I'm wondering if the 23 head is really worth swapping to or not.
    Thanks,
    Woody

That's a tough question. My guess is the great flowing prospects of the H23 intake manifold. But the real question is, why not use the higher rev characteristics of the H22? plus the aftermarket support?

    ??.? 1/4 mile with turbo

    ??? hp with turbo

could you not get the 22 head ported and therefore still have the high revving characteristics AND smooth, high volume airflow?

          Wow... just... wow.

There are no SOHC H23s. There are no SOHC H series engines period.

I don't know of anyone that puts an H23 head on an H22 block. Often, it's the H22 head on the H23 block (for the extra displacement of the H23)

Both heads are good. H22 is vtec. H23 is not. F22A has the ability to outflow both.

Headswaps generally aren't a good idea with the H and F series motors. They're doable, but many fail for one reason or another (often the installer, but that's beside the point). If you want a performance upgrade, swapping a head won't do all that much for you.

Son of a bitch. Google's worthless.

It's not necessarily google though. It's other forums, that don't have any clue what they're talking about. Makes me look like an ass.

                thanks

Hey, thanks guys. Along with posting, I've been doing some research and I've found that you are right. There really is no benefit to swapping heads. I'll just go get mine ported when I swap cams and I should be fine.
                Thanks again
