ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Ok, so I bought another engine to rob parts off, but I haven't had the chance to start working on this problem. Meanwhile I took it out for a drive today, just a few minutes down the road, only hic-upd (sp?) once, maybe twice, and drove fine after that, didn't even smoke out the exhaust, and seemed to have a lot of power even when I tramped on it a lil. I'm stumped now, any suggestions?

Sorry I missed some recent posts before posting, but...
I don't see much chance of a ring not scratching up the cylinder wall if it popped out around or up through the piston. You might need oversized pistons to use your orig. block, since if you have super high mileage, you probably bored out the cylinder with the ring, lol.
If you're lucky, and didn't drive too far or hard since whatever happened, your valves may not be bent, but be ready for that. The head itself should be fine, even if the combustion chamber got hit by a loose piston. As long as your broken spark plug or valve/ring pieces didn't get hammered between the two too bad.
You can take the head off with the motor in the car, and maybe even have a "new" piston & rod assembly put back in with the block still in the bay. Chances are you'll have to take the block out too. With that in mind, I'd take the whole engine assembly out, and work outside the engine bay.
You'll probably need new rings for the piston and a new rod bearing. You'll need a new head gasket unless you transplant a good engine. Hopefully the Crankshaft & block are still okay..
There's my four cents...Last edited by lucid; 10-06-2008, 02:11 PM.

So the engine is working perfectly now, aside from a lil smoke out the exhaust every now and then, especially when I start it up in the morning (valve seals?). At least it's a daily driver again, and even though I haven't needed it yet, I have a spare engine for parts
