Engine Rebuild

Has anyone ever did a rebuild the first time with no experience and it came out right?

How hard was it? Besides oem parts like gaskets and things what are some good things to put in like pistons etc.

Reason asking is because im thinking about possibly rebuilding my engine in about a year or so.

Didnt really get into cars until i got my cb7. it is easy for me to organize and understand things if thats a plus in a first time rebuild.

So what do you think?

take your time and concentrate and follow the instructions to the T and you should be alright. also take pics as your tearing down the motor, those will help if you do something wrong.

best bet is to get another engine exactly the same as your and build that one. thats why i have this

I mirror Bobbycos. I helped my friend rebuild his and he used 2 different manuals that explained the same thing in two different ways. Take pictures (Digital is cheap) and tag the wires. Use a torque wrench (of course) and follow the steps carefully. It really isnt that hard to do IMHO.

Stock rebuild is easier than performance build with aftermarket parts. If you get all OEM replacement parts for what is necessary, you are golden and that is the key to making things go smoothly. Once you deal with aftermarket parts, things will need to be modified to fit or work properly, I can guarantee that in one way or another, minor or major.

So first time, I suggest doing a stock rebuild.

clearance and toleances are key. dont slap things together and expect them to work

buy quality parts also. i bought a bosch water pump. it failed on me and cost me a lot more money to repair the damages it made.
