ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Brake locked up.

Alright, so this morning I get in my car, undo the e-brake and turn the car on. I put my baby in reverse (manual) and didn't move because the back right wheel's brake didn't disengage.

I tried tampering pulling the e-brake and it won't go all the way up.

I have no idea wtf I should do to fix it. Can Cb7tuner save the day..again!?

    thanks!

        possible frozen cable (not cold)

had that problem with my old 77 Civic ( yes 1977), took a hammer and tapped on the cable at the drum and heard it release. i then replaced the cable ASAP

wish i had a pic of my 77

Try this.Jack the rear end up. check that cable from the console back.I've had mine freeze on me once. If you have drums in the back pull the wheel off and knock/whack that drum with a 2lb hammer or so and see if it frees itself. If its disc brake the caliper might seized, in that case you'll have to remove and rebuild it or replace it.

Should I replace all of my brake lines or just that one? I wouldn't want this happening while driving if you know what I mean...haha

Hell yeah! I hit that shit with a hammer and it released!

I can spin it but it still has a very small light grinding noise.

How do I check my brake lines and be sure that they aren't bad?

take off the drum and check your brake shoes

also lube up the cable with some PB B'Laster or just get new ebrake cables ,install them and be done with it

might be a good time to just do your rear brakes altogether, safety first !

If you have steel wheels just smack the wheel with a sledge. Right in the center.

The thing is, If the liners are frozen in the up position you wont be able to get the drum off. So the shock will help release them. Then just clean the insides out with brake cleaner, Lube up the springs and the parking brake lever inside there.

DONT SMACK YOUR WHEEL IN THE CENTER! thats were our little friend, the Bearing lives. just dont use your e-brk till you fix it. if you happen to park on a really steep hill, get a rock and jam it under yo tires.

doesn't really matter fellaz cause he got em to release..

Op pull the drums off and chek your linings/drums. They might also need replaced.
