ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

High Idle after short ram install, help?

Hey guys, I just installed my short ram yesterday, and I'm having trouble with the idle, it revs at 1500 and the gas consumption has increased a lot, I played with the vacuum hoses and nothing has happened yet, what could it be, I did everything as the DIY says.
This is a pic of it:

did you use the idle screw and turn it down?

If it was fine before the install, and all of a sudden it's just idling high, you probably unplugged a vacuum line by accident. It isn't the line going to the intake itself, it's probably a smaller vacuum line toward the firewall somewhere. Check carefully.

Mine idles at that rpm normally, after a minute or two it goes down to around 900. I thought that was normal

No, he means his is at 1,500 all the time, even when it warms up. My car starts out around 1,700 and after a minute drops down to around 1,100 then after 2-3 minutes it drops to below 1,000....that's when it's warming up, which is normal. He means it has a high idle at all times.

Oh, gotcha. At first I thought something was wrong because the other car I drive at warm up idles at 400 or so, but it's also much newer. Thanks

thanks for the coms, I double checked and everything it's in its place, so what could have happened, the only change was the small vacuum line left to the throtle body that goes to the short ram.
So I still got the problem, ah , I fortgot, the screw is to the limit tight, I really dunno whats going on!
              Any other ideas?

why do you have a capped vacuum nibble on the throttle body? that line suppose to connect to the 1st port on your Short Ram Intake. it design to allow air to bypass the throttle plate. The current vacuum line you have on the 1st nibble of the Short ram intake need to capped at the Solenoid on the other side of the Intake manifold. Give that A try - hope it help.

dont understand why you have a nipple on your short ram going into your intake manifold.

My AEM cai had instructions and said the first vacuum line is suppose to be stuffed with foam and not capped. Then the second vacuum needs to be capped like so.

Well since mine is not a CAI I thought it was different, but I'm gonna follow your advice and plug them the way you have them, give me 10 and I'll tell you how it worked out
