ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

need so quick advice, need to order engine ASAP

I have a 91 accord coupe, my distributer finally took a dump on me last night.
I have done so freaking much with the stock f22a1 setup that its time to send it to the parts pile behind the garage....lol.....
I have been researching the h22 and the h23 vtec "blue top" I cant personally decide what is better.
First off I am not looking to take to the drag strip, or street race for that matter.
I travel alot with my job and need to keep decient millage. With my stock f22a1 block, f22a6 head with .05 bb oversized valves, f22a6 intake manifold, dc sport header, and aem true cold air intake I am getting somewhere around 30 mpg... Now that is impressive with my lowerend having 250k on it. I have a wrist pin noise since the cars timing belt poped about 50k ago, and it just doesnt have the pep I want. So Its time to decide what swap to undertake.

I have read so much information on both that I just dont know where to start.
The h22 seems to be the most swapped choice, and I read that you cant get a h23 blue top mated with a manual tranny. My car is a auto now but I wouldnt mind doing the auto to manual swap.

I also read that the h23 vtec is only available in obd2, so what is needed here? The engine im looking at is in canada comes with harness, ecm obd2, auto tranny and drive shafts 40k miles for 1500.

The specs are similar on both engines, so why is the h22 the more common swap? What modifications will either swap need?

I am at the point now where im about to give this company in canada my credit card number and have it delivered to my shop..... any reason anyone can think of why not to do the h23 blue top swap?

Just FYI I have used the search button, I have read here, accordtuner, and honda-tech. Now I am here for REAL advice...

Thanks Guys, you have never lead me wrong... lol

I'd get the tried and true JDM H22A. 200hp, they're widely available and usually come w/ 35-45K miles on them. So they'll last quite awhile. Its the choice swap for this forum I'd have to say.

well if you buy my car you have a real good motor thats been taken car of and spare parts in case you need them $650 its an f22a1.

but buying an H22 or the H23 VTEC. you'll be racing someone. lol. no matter if its a stop light encounter or on the highway. your gonna race it. lol.

but i see no reason not to get the H23 VTEC tho. if the company your buying from has the wiring harness and all with it then go for it. it should be a simple swap as long as nothing is cut and you know what your doing.

if you get a blue top you will have to convert it to obd1 like i had to do with my h22a4 but all that is changing the dizzy p13 obd1 ecu obd1 injectors use the obd2 map sensor on the TB

But i have been told i have a wrist pin noise as well but i'm unsure. I haven't had anything like the timing belt pop or anything. It just started out of nowhere. It almost sounds like a loose rocker arm to me. it's just too low to be in the valve cover. what does yours sound like?

yes.. mine sounds like a loose rocker, but it is low end.. I have had this noise since it got hot that 1 time.. It has been 50 k miles now or better and it hasent got any louder or different. Same sound and it just hasnt changed with any time. At first I thought It was my valves, and I adjusted them. Then I took it to honda and the guy in their service dept said the valve lash was perfect! and the noise was possible from a wrist pin or "out of round" cyl.

He said it was common with the f22 engine with that kind of millage and not to worry about it. also mine is not noticable except at low RPM, and cold.

I have heard alot worse.. Its nowhere near a lil man with a hammer wanting out lol!
