ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

oil in my sprak plug hole, WTF

ok so today as i was diagnosing my car for its all of sudden 'i dont wanna turn on' tantrum, i checked the spark plugs...

as i pulled the spark plug wire out.... OIL!!!! and lots of it... i figured it was that the spark plugs were loose, but no i put the 5/8 socket in there and the were tightly secured. the socket was covered in oil about an inch up.

could it be that my valve cover doesnt tighten correctly around the spark plug holes? or is it a bigger mess than i can imagine?

and my car DOES NOT WANT TO START. it cranks good, real good, but dont turn on.

the oil is most likely from the spark plug tube seals:

and the hard starting might be the main relay:

I had this same problem, it is definetly the spark plug tube seals, buy the whole spark plug valve cover gasket set at your local auto parts store which should include the tube seals, use a little of that gasket maker adhesive and stick them on the valver cover itself once its off the engine, a friend of mine had som BG concentrated brake cleaner so we sprayed that in there and that leftover oil should burn off when you rev the engine, but before that you can probably pump so of that oil with a hand pump that you can also buy from your local part store, and i think even regular brake cleaner should work (im not sure though, ask a mechanic about using regular brake clearner or if they know of something better to burn all that oil in there) oh man and the most important part: when you are putting the valve cover back on please, i repeat PLEASE be sure to ditribute torque of the nuts evenly, in other words when you put the valve cover back on if you do two turns on one nut do to the one adjacent to that one and do two turns there, sort of like putting on your tire, you want those tube seals to sit down evenly becuase if you do it clockwise you will soon have to buy another set (trust me this is experience talking to you) and they do not need to be super tight, as you as you feel that it is kind of tight just leave them like that, i broke two studs on my H and it was a frekin headache, they each cost about $10 at the dealer and had to wait about a week, it will get your engine bay greasy, and you may want to use some of that gasket maker on the corners of the actual valve conver gasket just to make it stick......and thou shall be goooooodd

as for the main realy..... im battling with that myself, i got it out and opened it, i drive my car daily so i hung it of the original screw so it is easy to get to when i get the equipment to solder the son of a gun
