okk.so i have some 17 inch rims sitting in my room that i'm finally going to man up and buy some tires for so i can put em on.but.the tire store i go too (used tires) had some 215/45/17's they were going to "save" for me......but.the fuckers sold em.now..this is my question.they have a set of four 225/45/17's taht he said he'll give me mounted and balanced for 140....and the treads really good...but.will they rub?i'm lowered about 2 1/2 in the front and 2 in the rear...soo.will they rub?

Without this info no one can tell you if it will rub. You should definitely check all aspects of a wheel before purchasing, no matter how good a deal they are. Also, you need to have the rim put on a machine for straightness and possibly load bearing. Craigslist has good deals, but you gotta be careful. Your life is riding on those rims.
All that aside, with a standard offset and 225/45's you MIGHT rub a little on the front wheels, but most likely just on the inner fender wells. You can trim that out with a pair of snips. This is also based on your estimation of 2 1/2" front drop. Suspensions settle differently on every car depending on various factors. Depending on how long youve had your drop on, what kind of drop you have, etc... you may be lower than the company acclaimed 2 1/2". Or you may be higher. Either way, you should be fine.

I would check that the 225's will actually fit your rim first. Most people dont go past 215 on a standard 17' rim (7" wide) 225 is usually used on a 7.5" wide rim.

not sure of the exact drop, but if you look at my sig, it will give you an idea. It is dropped on H&R Race springs btw. I also have a side view shot for example as well.
Here is a side view shot. I have about a 2 finger gap at most with these tires.

If rubbing on the actual fender lip you can have the fenders rolled, you can heat them up a bit and bang them in SLOWLY AND EVENLY with a deadblow (not really recommended unless you know what youre doing, or you're just ballsy) or you can take an angle grinder with a cutting wheel and completely cut out the inner lip (by cut out i mean flush it up. Again, not really recommended unless you work with sheetmetal all the time or again, ballsy.)
