ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

well, i always downshift when coming to a stop. definitely helps to maintain your brakes for longer.

I've got an auto. I always throw it into Neutral to drop the RPMs when coming to a stop and it saves gas.

as always, it is good to fix things that are wrong with the car instead of avoiding the problems, but I dont you will hurt anything by putting into neutral at a stop.

What you're doing is probably on the list of ways to "hypermile"...Or whatever the hell it's called. :-) I always try to squeeze as many miles per gallon on my Toyota Camry. It's a 2000, LE V6. I love it, reliable daily driver with 30mpg. I'd draft more, but it's kinda risky and I don't like rock chips.

But definitely get that mount fixed. It'll get worse over time, and possibly cause more damage than it could have if it were fixed sooner rather than later.

I do a combonation of both I down shift a couple of gears then put it in neutrial . I figure it is cheaper to replace you brakes then your clutch , but it does not harm your clutch/trans to down shift if it is done correctly.

                1. Free wheeling or coasting your car in neutral is not exactly the safest practice. And for anyone who has had to swerve and avoid you'll know what I'm talking about.

                2. There are no fuel savings by coasting in Neutral. If you have done it and actually looked at your rolling idle it's actually higher than your parked idle. Not to mention that when using engine breaking your injectors are actually cut off completely at certain points. IE closed throttle @ 2500+ RPM engine breaking = no fuel/injector cut.

Now if your just going to stop at a stop sign and then put your car in neutral isn't going to hurt anything.

FYI....To come on here and say that you are knowingly driving with bad breaks is never a good thing. Never mind trying to find ways to avoid using them, get them fixed.

for the most part i downshift. rotors and brakes cost to much.

but putting it in it will deff save some gass. over time.

but want would be the "right" way to down shitf. i am almost poss i am doing it right but then again i complty taught myself to drive a manuel so i can never be 100 % shere.

you should NEVER slow the car down with the transmission, thats what brakes were made for. the best way to do it would be to slow the car with the brakes, and rev match the downshift. you don't necessarily have to heel toe it, unless you were driving agressively. A simple throttle blip would work.

putting in neutral is fine, it means you are stopping with the brakes like you should be. Just be warned that you have more control of the car when its in gear, so if there were an emergency situation you would be much better off with the car in gear.

no, it doesn't. Not on a manual transmission.
