r134a in 93 accords?

Does anyone know if the 93 accords came with r134a or does all cb7s have r12?

If you don't mind me asking how much did it run you. I just bought my CB7 and the ac doesn't work. The guy told me it just needs to be converted to 134a and charged, but I haven't really looked into it yet

Just have a shop vacuum out all the old R12, and you can get conversion kits at Autozone/Checkers/Whatever for around $30. That's what I did, and with a full charge (and my fans rewired to blow the correct direction, oops!) my AC is pretty cold.

mine had r12 in it , the former owner was a mech and already made the switch to r134 before I bought my 93 accord , the retro fit fit is not that hard to do , but you do need to get the system evacuated , and to really do it right they say you should replace the o rings , but most mech i have talked to have told me it is not really needed to replace the o rings just make sure all the r12 has been evacuated and you should be fine .

Whats included in the retrofit kit from autozone, is it just the shradder valves and orings? I thought the receiver dryer has to be converted also.

Im pretty sure the drier doesn't have to be converted. I just went to the r34 and used an auto zone kit and it works fine and it was cheap. I had a garage do the labor.

there is a converison kit at advance auto or auto zone for like 30-40 bucks thats what i did for the time being

I was told by a mechanic who has done conversions that I would be fine to swap the R134a Prelude compressor on (I also used the Prelude Rubber A/C line), then have the system professionally evacuated and refilled with the new coolant.
I will replace the easier to reach O-rings soon for about 5-10 bucks from Honda and take it in for service.

Incorrect, it does. R134 is a completely different oil and will crap up the reciever/dryer if it's not changed.

Well, I'm glad I kept the one from the 'lude if that is true. Honda wants $134 bucks for a new one. Hopefully it mounts similarly in the CB bod.

you need to change the fittings as well. You can't just swap on a new compressor and charge it. R-12 used a screw on fitting whereas the R-134a uses a quick disconnect.

Save yourself a step and drain all the excess refrigerant into the air we breathe. Our grandchildren will feel it but by then we'll all be wearing space suits to protect ourselves from harmful UV rays anyways.

You need to vacuum the system to remove all traces of R12. Venting to atmosphere won't accomplish that.
