so, dropped the new engine, sadly it's not an H22. All the money I paid to get it, and get it dropped, shit...shoulda gotten an h22. But, since I paid 1500 to get this engine and put it in, I'ma keep it. It's in better shape than my old one (even before the head gasket blow). It's got it's issues, but it just seems like it's sensors, plus I need a radiator. So, I like the automatic, and I was talkin' to a friend (wvCb7), and I was askin' him questions on the H22 automatic benefittin' the F22 automatic tranny. Now, I went onto the car-parts.com and tried searchin' for a Prelude tranny (91 - 94), and they have different options for the Manuals, like..2.2 non-vtec MT, 2.3 MT, 2.2 Vtec MT, etc...but only has 1 option for AT. Now, before I go searching, I gotta ask a few questions. Now, if I was to swap an H22 tranny, which year should I shoot for? Since the Prelude came with 3 different engines styles, aren't there 3 different types of Auto trannys? Advantages and Disadvantages for the H22 compared to the F22? He was tellin' me the gears were shorter, and I'm pretty sure that could be an advantage for low end and what not. Iuno, just a few questions, cause there's a junkyard nearby my females house in Pa, and if I get enough info, and get bribed into doing it, I'll see what they got. On car-parts.com (junkyard by her house), they have a 2.2 auto tranny from a 94'. $175. Pretty sure it's just the base models tranny though, but could that even benefit?

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

The enter key is your friend.
I dont know what you are asking, but with an H2 u should go manual. end of discussion.
It will be more fun, and u will have more control over ur motor.
But If you have to get an auto get one from an H22 with LSD. Make it worth the effort.
Otherwise, they are all essentially the same.

That's what I'm tryna figure out. If an h22 could benefit, which one. And if I really wanted a 5 speed, I'd sell mine and buy one that already has it. Seems like a hassle, and the car's my daily driver. So I can't let it sit while it's gettin' put together. There's no junkyards near me that I could possibly strip a Prelude or Accord of all the parts I need for a manual swap. I've seen 1 accord, in the 3 junkyards I've been to so far, and it was an 89', but it was completely gutted. I'm the middle of West Virginia. Not much around here. No one has cars. They've all got trucks and what not.98' Mustang 3V Swap

It seems that nobody bothers to read
The H22 has the shortest gearing, H23 is next, F22 is about the same as ours (honestly, I'm not sure if the Prelude's F22 trans is any different at all... something to look into)
Shorter gearing will put you at higher RPM while cruising. I don't know exactly where the auto will fall, but my H22 tranny puts me at about 4000 at highway speeds. Mine is a 5 speed, though... auto will be different.
