ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Engine sputtering

I just bought a 93 accord lx model today it has and automatic tranny. When i rev the engine while parked the car will not rev past 3600 rpms at 3600 it starts to sputter. A lil background on the car it has been sitting about 6 months and has no muffler on it I just drove it home like that about 50 miles and it rides good as long as u don't get on it. At idle the engine shakes bit also. The car takes a bit to crank up. Tomorrow I am going to put new spark plugs and check the timing or maybe tonight i will do it. Anyone have any ideas? I can't complain though because I got the car for $800 and the body and interior are clean.

Just do a good tune up on the car and see what it doesn't fix.

How high do you want it to rev while in neutral?

I want it to rev to redline just like most cars do. Does your car start to sputter at 3600 rpm's while in gear going down the road and while parked? If you don't have something helpful to say please read the post and move to the next.

My alternator is good all the lights are bright. As a matter of fact the battery was dead when I bought the car we jumped it with a box and the 50 mile drive was good enough to charge it back up actually I drove about 8 miles and had to get gas and I shut it off then and it started right back up again.

Today I changed the spark plugs and cleaned out the iac valve and still no change. I just read in one of the other posts about checking the ground by the thermostat and I just put the kids to sleep so I'm going outside to check that out. I haven't been able to check the timing because the timing light is playing hide n go seek in my garage at the moment.

yea i definatlly agree. it sounds like it might be starving for fuel. try running some fuel injector cleaner with some hi-test gas. especially if the car was sitting for six months.

Also, it sounds like you may have a misfire from one or more stuck injectors. lightly tap on the injector body, sometimes you can get the pintle moving again. If so, the fuel system cleaner you added will be able to go through, and do it's job. keep us posted!

i have checked the code in the ecu and it came up with code #8 Top dead center sensor. I have been told that this is in the distributor. I am going to get a distributor tomorrow from the junk yard I work at.

Hopefully, that'll fix it! Sounds like a plan to me.

I got the parts today from the junk yard I pulled the distributor with cap and wires, coil, and the iac valve. I didn't get to put it in though cause my uncles water pump had to be changed and that took till dark. The car I took the parts from I know ran I drove it in the junkyard they junked it cause they where unable to get a title for it but that sucker peeled tires from a dead stop with the automatic tranny. So hopefully I'll have a properly running car tomorrow!
