ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Winter tires at the track

There is an annual drag racing series that is coming to town in 2 weeks. This is the first year that I have owned my own car since it has come (I'm 17). Since I got my cb7 about a month ago I haven't had the money to change the tires yet to summer ones. I know I need to change them over soon because if not I'll wear em out before winter anyways. I plan on basically gutting the car to get the best bang for my buck.

My question is will this have I huge affect on my racing. I have noticed they suck on corners, but straight line I'm not sure on yet. Should I try to get that high high high on the priority list before I go?

Any other tips for the first "sanctioned" race would be helpful too

winter tires typically have a softer tread compound (or more pliant one) so they can grip in colder conditions, when normal tires would be hard. the softer the tire, the more grip, to a point. The snow tires will just get shredded in the hot weather, and are not designed for it, as you have noticed while cornering.

i'd change them for sure, you'll just end up destroying them, especially at a track.

Would the compound being softer just eliminate the need to burnout before launching, as its already at the heat peak?

I'm not as much worried about shredding them up as I am about losing what little power I have.

Don't do a burnout with street tires. Only with slicks/drag radials.

I did a compairison one night at the track with my summer tires and winter tires and my time was nearly a second slower with my winter tires.

Yea, what they said ^^. The car only seems to suck in the corners mainly because of tires, and also once you do your suspension I'm sure your views will change.
