ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Why is my engine only stamped as an f22a?

I've got a '90 Ex with 250k ish miles on it. I think it was of the first batch of our gen accords available as the door jamb sticker indicates it was made it October of '89.

For whatever reason, my exhaust is only has a single tip muffler, though I'm pretty sure it's been replaced in the past, since the bracket to the back of the engine does not line up and has an inch gap in between.

The engine is stamped only as an f22a. That's it. It has an Ex header on it.. and single tip exhaust?

    I'm confused.

JDM engine swap, replaced muffler with an LX one. Thats not too hard to figure out. Atleast you got something good to start out with.

That what I suspect. If it's really an engine swap, why does it run like such crap? It honestly runs like it has 250k on it. Valve tap, weird whining noise coming from crank area (not ac/ps/alt..), it's coarse from 2500-2800rpm, it's boggy for an unknown reason, and something makes a pretty noisy rattle from that rough rpm range.

There's no way this engine hasn't been with this car it's entire life..

Is there such a thing as a usdm f22a or is mine definitely jdm? Does the f22a offer any benefits over any of the usdm engines? It's identical to an a4, right? It's got the factory headers.

as far as i know, all usdm motors had a numerical tag after the engine stamp

Sweet! That's pretty exciting to find out more about the history of my car. So it's safe to say it's had an engine swap before I got it? cool!

What is it the equivalent to over here then and what kind of power is it putting out?

Other than the lack of a number stamped on it, I haven't noticed a single difference between it or any of the non-a6 usdm motors..

Are there any other things to check to be sure it's not usdm? By the way it runs, sounds, etc I would never have guess it wasn't the original 250k mile motor that came with the car originally..

                    Hello,

The "F" series engine thread shows the HP difference in the F22A series motors..however a quick web search returned these results on the F22A JDM engine.
