ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

91 Accord Wont start.... Help me plz... :'(

Bought my car last august.. 91 Accord LX.. ran fine.. then my s light came on.. replaced my transmission bout a month ago. Now it doesn't want to start, or it will after fighting me over it.. lol Had my dad pull my spark plugs.. they are covered in motor oil, but still spark. Not corroaded or anything.. Can my dad do the seal over on his own? or do i have to take it somewhere? and would not having a heat sheild on my starter cause it not to start when its hot out?
    Thank you!

well if its just the gasket around the spark plug holes causing oil in your plugs then your dad can do that on his own.

no cover over the starter would not affect anything.

As far as no start goes, more details are needed. You said you have spark, so do you have fuel pressure? Does the car crank over, to show that the starter IS good? Check your grounds or battery.

Yea.. it cranks and tries to start.. i have spark, but how do i check fuel pressure? I put the gas pedal on the floor one day and turned it and it started.. if that helps any..
It starts when it feels like it.. i went out about 6 this morning just to see if it would start.. started right up didnt touch the pedals or nothin.. But then some days when i do that it cranks and never starts.

Yeah its the Mainboard Relay. I think pretty much everyone on this forum has had this problem. Changed mine almost a year ago and never had a problem since.

Sounds like some resoldering of the main relay is in order...

To check the main relay, just pull it out (should be underneath the dash), and check for hairline cracks in the soldering. There's also just listening for the clicking sound it makes when you turn on the ignition.

OEM new main relays are like $60. I'd get the OEM for that price difference.

My father thought it was my fuel pump as well...but like I posted previously, after soldering the main relay its started fine ever since.

I just bought a soldering iron, goggled soldering to learn how, and 20 minutes later I was done. From what I learned you want to use an iron, not a gun on electronic parts.

                          This should do nicely.

The soldering tool you want to use is the small electronics one,(LIKE THE ONE IN THE LINK ABOVE)...and I just re-soldered everything in there. No problems since then!!

Someone above mentioned to look for cracked solder joints. When I inspected mine, I could see no cracks, even with a magnifying glass. So I just resoldered all the joints just like you did.

edit: Enjoy the time you spend in the position you'll need to be in to remove it.
