ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    ball joint broke, help!!!!!

okay so i think one of the lower ball joints (or bushing) on my front driver side driver has broken. i'm not too smart when it comes to these things, but i just now noticed a knock coming from the wheel whenever i go over a bump... so i checked... and i counted 4, i think? well, the second one just where the control arm is attached has broken in half and was just kind of hanging there.

im fucking out of town right now 110 miles away from home... how safe is it to drive? and an idea on how much its going to cost to fix?

It is not safe to drive plus you could break other parts while driving at a high rate of speed and end up fliping your car. Unfortuneatly you have to fix it. The parts are not all that expensive but the labor to fix it will be. With parts and labor your lookin at several hundred dollars to fix it.

upon doing research i think it might be the ball joint boot that broke? it's a small rubber piece the size of a half dollar...

Is it the upper or lower?

If the boot is ripped it means the grease has leaked out so it will rattle now.
        wat?

if u broke ur balljoint u wouldnt be able to drive the car! there are 2 on each side. the upper one which is at the end of the upper control arm, and the lower which is at the bottom end of the knucle and goes into the lower control arm. if any of these were to snap in half, u wouldnt be able to steer cuz u are going to half a loose steering knuckle.

100 miles is no problem, u can probably be like that for a while. But, get it fix as soon as u can! balljoints are cheap insurance! u dont want one to break at 50 mph!

if its just the boot you need. Do what I did and buy the Energy Suspension boot kit. They're made out of polyurethane so they're MUCH more durable than the OEM Honda ones, even though they're pretty decent too. But cost, they only cost about 15 dollars for an entire kit of 2 upper for control arms and 2 lower for the spindles. They snap in just like OEM and seal really well.

But first make sure your balljoint is in good shape, since when the boot breaks, all the grease goes out and sand and dirt get in....and thats how a balljoint eventually seizes up and snaps.
