ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I got 37mpg highway on a trip with my music cranked. I also got 41mpg earlier on that trip with it turned down.

And for those mentioning weight as dropping mileage...hardly. The only time you really burn additional fuel with extra weight is when accelerating. That means the effect is almost null on extended highway trips. In city will be different, however, because are you constantly accelerating.

Would an after market high output/more efficient alternator increase mpg w/ an after market stereo then?

Foamy, you always get high gas mileage.
But it all depends on the accessories.

Wonder how it is for someone who has a light show in/on their CB7. Haha!

          Haha, yeah. I love it.

I've been looking at buying a newer car with working AC, but with the mileage my CB gets, I'm having a hard time! I have a feeling if I bought a new one, I'd never drive it, hehe.

The best i can get so far has been 33mpg... the only thing i can think of that might be hampering me is the 80w90 syrup spinning in my transmission

its not only the alt working harder that decreases your gas mileage. the big draw in power also cuts down the amount of spark that your engines getting. weak spark means more unburned fuel, which makes the engine work harder. i was sitting at a stop light at idle and turned up a very long bassy tone. the draw was so great that my fuel pump started to cut out and the car stalled. luckily there was still enough power to re-start the car. gotta love optima.....

I'd be more concerned about the added weight from the subwoofers.

Full tune up on my car, with a very healthy motor.

I did air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, rotor, valve adjustment, fresh oil, fresh coolant, fresh ATF (yes, my car is automatic), set the proper ignition timing at the distributor, etc.

It helps that my motor compression tests at 175 psi on EVERY cylinder.

hmm with an auto also.. have you ever had a GPS in your car?? I have found atleast on my accord that my Odometer runs a bit faster then "real life".

my car is in prime running condition but with a 5sp so my mileage should be better but I can only pump out 650km on a tank.

and thats rated better then what Honda says my car should get.

did you run your tank to empty or atleast the light and had 800km on your odo?

sorry for asking I just would love to hit 800km a tank.

180 mile trip ÷ about 5 gallons of gas filled = average of 36 mpg.
