ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Music vs. Fuel Mileage

Any one think that having the subs cranked will affect fuel mileage?

I just put about 800 kms on a tank... and for the last half or so i turned the subs off/really low. usually i can barely squeak out 700 kms. this is on a long back country road trip that i do alot (8 hours there and back).

the only thing i can think of that affected it is the lack of pound (400w, 2 tens). 57 litres to fill up.

wondering if anyone has similar experience

    accessories technically use more gas.

if you have your head lights on, your music blaring, it is taking more from the battery, thus making the alternator have to replace that power. Since the draw is higher, the alternator has to create a higher load to create the power, thus making your engine have to work harder.

I don't think it would make that much of a difference, but technically, you use more gas with accessories on

The difference wont even be noticeable. Making sure your tires are inflated enough would make much more of a difference.

i beg to differ... my car is top notch running condition (tires 32psi, just changed the oil a month ago, newer 02 sensor, plugs, cap, rotor, alignment). and i make this trip at least every two weeks. so all of the sudden im getting 33 instead of 29mpg?

and i have noticed sometimes the car surges a little when im sitting at the intersection with the tunes cranked. so yeah, the stereo is definitely putting load on the system

probably not with a stock stereo, but with a big stereo eating a lot of amps I bet this would make a noticible difference.

x2. My phone is always on vibrate and in my pocket in the car. But, yes... I fried my alt in my 240 on a 4 hour trip back home with the music as loud as it'd go without getting distorted to stay awake. About 30 mins from my house smoke is everywhere. Alt was bright orange and the belt and intake box were metling.

But, I sold them with the 240.

I don't run any subs right now, but I'm buying a friends Memphis 10's to get a little bump.

a system will effect your gas mileage.. I had a 240 with a decent system in it and there was a big difference in gas mileage depending on how loud my music was.. But my alternator was pretty much fried too

seeing a common thread here with the 240 alternators... anyone have issues with the cb7 alternator?
