ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Low RPM Stutter...

Hello everyone. I have been toying with my CB7 for almost three years now. I have been using these forums as a refrence for many upgrades including my recent 99 acura CL rotor over hub conversion.

I have finally been stumped by my CB and I need help.

I have a Low RPM stutter. Seems to stutter only below 3500 RPM. It also only does so at 1/2 throttle or less. As soon as I gun the gas the stutter stops and I get hit with full power. I have noticed my mileage going downhill lately as well...

If I downshift or drive the living bejeebus out of my car it seems to drive perfectly fine. No funny exhaust colors out the tailpipe either. Fuel pressure stays around 38-42 psi. Thats what my car has always run at...
I am guessing its an ignition problem somwhere between coil and plugs but I havent had time or patience to troubleshoot it as it doesn't happen all the time.
This all started today when i sprayed off my engine bay at the car wash, but i was careful and covered the air intake, battery and distributor. I think that this is probably just coincidence...

Oh ya, also only seems to do it when its hot.
    Any input is appreciated...

Not a good idea to pressure wash engine, there are many connectors and relays that can cause problems if soaked. Give it time to dry.
    Could take a few days.

Hmm interesting that 2 other people have the same issue... It really feels like a lack of spark. Its too intermittant to just unplug something and see if it goes away. It'll drive fine for a couple miles then act up really bad for the next mile or so. Unplugging the O2 would put it in limp mode as well so i don't know how much that can help troubleshoot... I guess I'll give it a try.
            Any other ideas???

I'd say it's a spark plug problem. I had the problem before and had 'em changed. 1 of the plugs were bad.

Damnit, I'm always so quick to submit. Well, you said something about it only happening in low rpms, and when it's hot. Before I changed the plugs, it was fine when it started. Once it got warm, it started. The longer I drove it, the worse it got. Higher rpms, no bog at all. I honestly thought my head gasket went again, cause it was driving like coolant was gettin' into the fuel again, but they did a pressure check on the engine and it was okay.

ive got the same problem. At around 2500 rpms. I have an auto so when i get off the gas or right before it changes gears itll sputter. I had oil in my plugs so i changed the valve cover gasket and gasket around the wires. Changed the spark plugs and today changed the wires. Nothing has helped. Ima just go deeper into the ignition source. Next is the cap and rotor. Someone suggested rotor button??? At least im going with all NGK parts. Plugs and wires. I needed em anyway. Ill stay posting! PEACE

Just thought I'd post that I figured it out somewhat. I took off the dizzy cap and I found oil. Blasted out the dizzy with brakeclean and cleaned up the contacts on the cap, seems to be good now.
It is still idling rough so i am going to throw in some plugs tomorrow and i found someone to buy a dizzy off of for 40$. I'll post again if that takes care of everything!
                        Thanks to all!

yeah make sure there's no oil in the dizzy. You might have to replace that Dizzy O-ring, the one that sits inside the Block, I know mine was PETRIFIED rubber when I changed it and it was the source of many of my stumbling I experienced, since it leaked oil on the coolant temp sensor right below it, and got oil all over the rotor and cap on the inside from leaking. That area also houses the Ignitor module, so if that's oil soaked, it wont survive very long soaked in HOT oil.

So that's a pretty important O-ring if you ask me.

the outer one rarely goes. & when it does its easy to find & repair. but the inner ones a bitch. few places have them, even though thats one of the most common reasons why people have to change their dizzys.

just change both. the outer one can be found anywhere. its just a common O ring. the inner one can be bought here...

thats where I got my inner dizzy seal at.

well today i messed with my car some trying to figure this out. and ive solved my problem. i checked the two rubber pieces that cover connectors going to the alternator and they were good. So i followed my ground wire going to the battery and it was good. I then looked at my positive wire and it was loose as a bitch on my battery. Gave it a couple screws and tighten it up and walla. problem solved. Thanks slim fast. LOL. PEACE
