ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

And yes, theres plenty of reason to speed. Its simple science: doubling your speed cuts your commute time in half... traffic permitting. I work 30 miles away from where I live. Doing triple digit speeds, I can get there in just over a half-hour. Doing the speed limit, it takes over an hour, and sometimes more if traffic is bad.

Deev, you said that over a 50 mile trip between doing the speed limit and speeding, you only saved 2 minutes? Either, you weren't speeding AT ALL, or your smoking some pretty good stuff, lol. Either way man, if you know what your doing, speeding isn't going to kill anyone, nor is it going to cause accidents. Thats all on the driver, and how they handle/maintain their vehicle. And even more than that, you need to know when, where, and how-to drive your car at those speeds. Its simply not the same as driving 30, or even 60. Little bumps cause you to go airborne, sometimes only on one side. You also need to be prepared for other moving objects coming from anywhere. And I mean anywhere. Most people aren't expecting you to be travel that fast, so keep that in mind.

I do, however, believe that speeding isn't for everyone, and some people are best doing the speed limit for the sake of everyone since they can't manage to drive in a straight line, much less stay in their own lane.
Who the FUCK drives to work at 100+ MPH every day You are just asking to get yourself or someone else killed.

Around town, I stick to the limits for that reason. On the highway I do 120km/h (limit is 100km/h with 10km/h allowance)

you said ""Doing the speed limit, it takes over an hour, and sometimes more if traffic is bad.""

so when you double your speed, traffic disappears? is that what you are saying?

there is no way you could cut the time in half on a 30mile trip unless you ran redlights, ran stop signs, and passed cars on the shoulder of the road.

wait till somebody pulls out in front of you...

ive been over a hundred and hit about 90 on a mountain road before slowing down to about 45 mph which pretty much toasted my brakes.

in my friend's mercedes we hit about 140 in the country side...quite a nice ride however we were approaching a blind turn really quick.

People do it for a cheap thrills, like a roller coaster, or watching too much Gone in 60 seconds/Fast and the Furious.

The fastest i went was 100. It was fun but then my common sense kicked in and i slowed down.

I'll admit to being young and dumb before with my car. I raced a rsx and we started the race at 90 didn't stop untill I was well into 5th gear in a H22. I don't know how fast that was and I don't really think I'd want to know. That was one of the dumbest things I've ever done.

I've been 135 in my auto EX coupe. I recently got Vigor brakes and rotors so if I ever want to try this in an open loop 202, think where that Lambo Murcielago did that 219 mph speed run at, then I'll be prepared. But after having lost my license for about a year and a half, not caught for this excessive speeding though, I now stick to the limits, I don't go above 85-90 on the freeways, esp. since gas cost so much now too. I got the brake swap done for those "spirited" mountain runs I plan to do later in the summer up north.

To the point where the needle can't go clockwise anymore.

My car stopped pretty smooth at those speeds. Not too much shaking because of the crossed drilled and slotted rotors.

I don't really go those speeds anymore. The max I will go on an open road with no other cars is about 120. That's once in a blue moon. The most I will push in a hurry with somewhat safe conditions is 90. I know it's not a responsible thing to do, but one day I will grow up and mature.

Deev is very accurat on his time savings.

When I would drive from Longview to Austin, driving 75 vs 90 saved me maybe 30 minutes max. If I drove at night, if there was little to no traffic, and if I didn't see any cops. Of course this was a 5.5 hour drive (75mph) so over a 20 minute trip you MIGHT save 5minutes MAX driving 90 vs 65. I have tested that for myself.

From the time I leave my house to the time I get to work, 23+- miles away, it is 30 min. If I drive 65 it is about 35, if I drive 90-100 it takes maybe 25-27min. So I just go 75-80...

But either way, you will not save time unless you achieve the high speed quickly, and maintain it throughout the ENTIRE trip. ONE red light...ONE! will null all your theoretical time savings...ONE slow car that you have to pass will also null out your time savigs.

On my trips to austin I would save maybe 30min over speed limit, but a near $300 and the reduced mpg isn't worth it. Again, more than light traffic alone will reduce any possible time savings.

Real world and theory rarely line up and match on issues like this

I got the same car as you bud f22a6 bone stock and I decided to take it to the track just to see what it could do and I hit 120 I think It could have gone higher but I didn't want to blow the engine I've punished that poor car enough. now I must buy it nice things and make it feel all better.
