    what to do???

ok so I have a high mileage f22a1 motor in my accord.. Roughly 260,000m. I have a number of problems with it. For one, it seems to miss and acts like it wants to cut off when its idling but only when the motor has warmed up. Two, it lacks power.. The further the rpm's climb the weaker it gets. It won't get past 6k rpm's, even when its not in gear you could hold the pedal to the floor and it still won't pass 6k. I pulled the spark plugs out the other day and they had a fair coating of oil on them but it wasn't excessive (still not good though).

Really dont know what's wrong with it, I'm positive its not the timing but I dont know where to start and if its even worth fixing. Should I just junk the motor for a lower mileage one?

    Help please...

I would recommend on just getting a newly rebuilt or used motor. All the seals in the motor are probably getting old.

You should replace your plugs , spark plug wires , distributor cap and rotor , fuel filter and go fromt there. Oil in plugs are not a good sign. Is it on the top portion or on the tip?

        CHeck your timing as well.

i'd say replace the motor, and if you want more power try to find a f22a6...

It won't go above 6k, why do you want it to.

Not saying I want it to.. Just describing how weak the engine is. It won't hit the revlimiter.. It basically dies out from 4700 rpm's and up if that helps you understand any better

sounds like the valve seals with all that oil on the plugs .oil on plugs and trying to burn the oil going in from the seals leaking will cause alot of power loss

I dont think its to good of an idea to plant your foot while in neutral on any motors. Deff. not a good idea on a 260K motor.... But i understand.

It sounds like it could be alot of things. Its hard to tell on a motor with that high milage.

Just yesterday my car would barely carry itself into a parking lot of the road. Turns out it was just a vac line. WHat im trying to get at is, it could be a gasket, maby rings, and like mentioned earlier, valve seals.

Try you other block if you have extra time, but id recomend a replacement.....of everything... The A6 is a fun motor with a 5 speed.

                        "Help please..."

A leak down - cylinder pressure test - should tell you whats going on and give you a good place to start looking. Low pressure is caused by poor valve seal and or ring/bore wear. With 260K this is very possible. Most likely not a cheep fix. If pressure is OK basic trouble shooting should find the problem.

Could also be a clogged cat convertor
As said above, check compression, cylinder leak down test, replace fuel filter and check the timing.
