I read the thread with the 'possible fix' for this, but I can't find if this would apply to the H22a swap or not. I have looked in my manual for a reference to the FITV but all I can find is the EACV and the idle adjusting screw. After the engine starts warming up (or when driving) it doesn't surge. It doesn't do it every cold start, but most every cold start.
Question: Does the H22a have a FITV, and if so, where is it?
Question #2: After I start my car up, cold or not, I occasionally get this hesitation in the throttle. I can only describe it in an electrical analogy. It's like a voltage drop. Not a total loss, but a noticeable decrease in power, lasting less than 1 second, going back to full power. It repeats this choppy routine sometimes up to about 4k rpms, then *BAM* full power. When I notice this problem, sometimes letting up on the throttle helps, upshifting to 2nd helps, sometimes not. It doesn't smoke, no backfires. Is it possibly an injector? Injector wire short? Weather isn't a factor. It sits in my garage, and like I said it doesn't always happen, and it only occurs once, then doesn't happen again.
I'm going to change plugs, wires, fluid, filters, maybe distributor too, this weekend. Has been running strong, and does great otherwise.
