Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Whos attempted the oil in spark plugs DIY?

    What beginners have attempted this? A mechanic told me it was a tough job. I didnt know if I could do it myself w/ average skills in following instructions for cars.

    I dont know if the oil in the plugs cause oil consumption, or just an inconvenience? It seems if you dont check the plugs, they stay clean. But if you take them in/out, it causes the oil to get on the plugs.

    If your going to do the lower seals then yes, its a handful. If your mechanic says that the Lowers are leaking, then yes, i recommend you bring it in for service. If its just the top seals that are leaking, im sure you could do it yourself as its just a cover gasket, + 4 O ring style gaskets. At the same time i also have a question. I have a valve cover that has NO grooves for the 4 Oring type gaskets for the spark plug wells, anyone else have that type of cover?

      I have replaced the uppers and the gasket seals...but the lowers are the cause of problem I believe. I didnt know how serious it is to let this go unfixed. And if I do get it done by a mechanic, how much should I expect to pay at most? Thx

        mechanics might charge you a pretty penny to get this done like $300, since it requires removal of the rockerarms to access the O rings on the bottom and a valve adjustment is usually required afterward. But if you have patience, can follow instructions and have a 1/4 inch drive inch-lbs torque wrench, then you could probably do this. The valve adjustment isn't too difficult either, I did both of these jobs myself for the very first time about a month ago, and my engine didn't blow up so I consider it successful. Oh be sure to get a Hayne's manual, it comes in handy.

            wow, i like! someone changes their oil often.

            but yea, i did mine without hondabond or silicone sealant and it leaked more than it did with the old ones. just make sure you use sealant on those.

              it looks easy, there is no need to touch the camshaft at all or any valve. just the roker arm and replace seals then tourque everything back right?

                sealant on the orings? i just coated them with a little oil and it' has leaked or anything.

                  hmm, thats odd. i guess my motor sucked
                  i just replaced it so i didnt have to worry about any more leaks. i did need to readjsut the lash when i did my seals. make sure the engine is compeltely cool prior to measuring.
